Mono-Sulfone Acid
Mono-Sulfone Acid is a reagent featuring a sulfone group and a benzoic acid. The sulfone group is a covalent ligand which is used to bind thiols via a Michael addition, and this can be employed to label cysteine residues in proteins. The carboxylic acid is free to do couplings with amines or alcohols to form amides or esters respectively.
