Molecular glues are a class of biologically active small molecules that induce or stabilize interactions between two proteins that would not normally interact. Acting as molecular matchmakers, they promote a new protein–protein interaction by binding to one protein and creating or stabilizing a complementary binding surface (a "neosurface") that enables recruitment of a second target protein. This induced interaction can bring the two proteins into close proximity, effectively locking them together and triggering a desired biological event, such as protein degradation or modulation of protein function.
