N-(Mal-C6-carbonyl)-N-bis(PEG8-acid) is a branched PEG linker consisting of one maleimide group and two carboxylic acid groups. The carboxylic acid groups can be conjugated to amine containing molecules through standard coupling reactions, such as those using HATU. The maleimide group selectively reacts with thiol groups, enabling site-specific modification. The PEG backbone enhances aqueous solubility, biocompatibility, and molecular flexibility.
