Azido-PEG-NHS ester, MW 5,000 (N3-PEG-SPA, MW 5,000) is an active ester containing an azide group. Azide is reactive with alkyne, DBCO, BCN… through Click chemistry. Azido-PEG-NHS ester offers several benefits over the Azido-PEG-CH2CO2-NHS. Azido-PEG-NHS ester is more stable in aqueous solutions compared to Azido-PEG-CH2CO2-NHS. It is a better choice for conjugations that are to be performed in aqueous solutions. Azido-PEG-NHS ester (N3-PEG-SPA) is also more stable for storage than Azido-PEG-CH2CO2-NHS (N3-PEG-SCM). Azido-PEG-NHS ester is reactive with primary amine but at a lower rate compared to Azido-PEG-CH2CO2-NHS.
