Streptavidin MagBeads

Protein purification with MagBeads allows for efficient isolation of proteins especially from small sample volumes or even viscous material. Streptavidin is a 52.8 kDa tetrameric protein obtained from Streptomyces avidin. It binds to biotin with a very high affinity and is one of the strongest interactions in nature with a dissociation constant of 10-14 mol/L. It is used in a wide range of applications including protein purification, ELISA, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and bio-nanotechnology. Streptavidin MagBeads are perfectly suitable for batch purification of proteins or other biomolecules, since they are easily separated from the supernatant by fast magnet response. The complete removal of sample material during the MagBeads purification process in combination with the high specificity of these beads results into an exceptionally high purity. Additionally, MagBeads-based purification can be easily scaled up or down to accommodate different sample sizes.
